'Creatives At Roundish Tables aka CART is a monthly opportunity for creatives to get together as a group and enjoy an interpersonal exchange with one another.'
It's finally here: The 2018 kick off of CART at Rule Gallery!
This year we're kicking it up a notch on these events, by inviting change makers from all across Colorado to come in and Co-Procter events with local artist, Moe Gram. Bryce Walsh will be the first of many to present a topic this year for CART. Check out the prompt for January's discussion below. Time to get your wheels turning!
'How does the curatorial practice affect sociability, social engagement, & social practice?'
This conversation aims to start a dialogue around the curation of socially engaged works and how curatorial choices can impact the social context of many of these projects.
Social Practice: a specific medium of art that emerged in the 1990s, social practice defines practices that place emphasis on social interaction and discourse.
Relational Aesthetics: the theoretical approach observed by French art critic Nicolas Bourriaud that describes the emphasis on public, social interaction rather than private, secluded experiences.
Social Engagement: the reference to the degree of participatory activity that emerges from public interaction.
The discussion will take place at Rule Gallery, 530 Santa Fe Drive, Denver Co 80204, starting at 7 pm. Please feel free bring someone you think may be interested in this discussion. All perspectives are welcomed and appreciated!
snacks will be provided and all are encouraged to bring wine or beer for us all to share.
