WVW Issue #1 Release Party

  • Dive Inn 1380 South Broadway Denver, CO, 80210 United States (map)

Celebrate the release of WVW… a new critical arts publication aimed at continuing critical discourse surrounding lived experience.

In January 2017 Black Cube and ArtPlant partnered to host the DIY Art School symposium , a focused series of discussions on alternatives to higher arts education. The result of these in-depth conversations is WVW, a broadsheet comprised of contributions by the DIY institutional panelists, as well as writers, thinkers, and artists who attended the symposium in January.

The title of the broadsheet, WVW, is a pictogram made from an indefinite repetition of two letters that could convey, among many things, a sense of place (mountains), transmission (waveform), the malleable potential of the written language (scribbles), and the challenge of converting it into speech.

Contributors include Andrew Berardini (Los Angeles) Michael Bibo (Denver), Molly Bounds (Denver), Michael Brent (Denver), Seth Cameron (NYC), Sean J. Patrick Carney (NYC), Lanny DeVuono (Denver), Matthew Hastings (Boulder), and Carla Herrera-Prats (NYC, Mexico City). The broadsheet features a curated calendar of cultural events across the front range and a full-page artist edition.
