Join Svper Ordinary, April 8th from 6pm-10pm for the Opening Reception of Primitive Modern | New Works by Megan & Taryn Slawson.

PRIMITIVE MODERN is the shared vision of sisters Taryn and Megan Slawson. Their collective body of work is a modern interpretation of simple motifs inspired by primitive tribal cultures.
Integral themes revolve around the repetition and connection of a cohesive arrangement of shapes. As artists they work independently with a focus on visually transforming natural materials into organic forms.

About Megan
As an interdisciplinary artist, Megan Slawson experiments with a modern approach to transforming natural elements into abstract forms and objects. Her designs are simple interpretations of shapes and patterns inspired by the adornment rituals of primitive tribal cultures. As an artist she strives to create a raw yet refined aesthetic by incorporating natural materials, found objects, and hand crafted elements that embody a lack of uniformity.

About Taryn
Taryn Slawson experiements with a method of weaving that is based on the concept of synergy. Through a process of repetition and connection she creates pieces embodying the principle that 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts'. She is self taught, creating her own style independent of traditional technique. Taryn utilizes simple shapes to achieve a sequence of complex patterns. She works almost exclusively with hemp fiber to create rugs and wall hangings defined by bold geometric designs.
