OPENING RECEPTION NOV. 12 5-11pm!
Hannah Green was the recipient of our Juror’s choice award during our Juried show for the Month Of Photography in 2015. Our Juror for the show was Cassandra Heiser of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.
There’s always been an instinct for our former child selves to hide under our blankets. To break free from the paranoia of the indoors. Can a veil of fabric hide ourselves from society's’ anxieties and pressures. However, these emotions are quelled moving through the landscape in the ghostly fashion. A sense of zen overcomes us in awe of the natural world. Move through the landscape. Make your heart beat rise. Feel the wind and the rain, the sun blanketing the brim of your hat. Be it one mile or a hundred, your eyes are open. Look up at the mountains. Stand on top of them. Feel small in a land of giants. Run down the Ridgeline. Perch yourself precariously on a cliff side. Ride the line between feeling alive and the possibility of a misstep being your last. Those societal pressures suddenly evaporate when you look out across the vastness in which you are only but a speck. A grain of sand. A dim star in a sea of galaxies. You could look at it as the veil being lifted, but it’s just that movement replaces thought. The problems you had are put into perspective. It’s the realization that you can be more lonely in a room full of people, than out alone in the middle of nowhere.
Hannah Green graduated with a BFA from the University of Colorado Boulder.
The artist was born and raised in Colorado and currently lives, works and plays in Durango and the high mountains, exploring the land through ultra running while often photographing along the way.
