Niza Knoll Gallery is accepting submissions for a new juried exhibit Photo Scanography/The Art of Scanning. The selected images will be on display from March 17-April 15, 2017 in the Niza Knoll Gallery, located in Denver’s popular Art District on Santa Fe. This exhibit is taking place in conjunction with the The Month of Photography (MOP) Denver which is a biennial celebration of fine art photography with hundreds of collaborative public events throughout Denver and the region (www.mopdenver.org)
Artists are invited to create digital images using a flatbed scanner instead of a camera. There are many different techniques to creating scanner art. Develop your own style by arranging a composition of few or many objects directly on the flatbed scanner. Painting on the flatbed scanner is also a possibility. After the image is completed on the scanner photo editing can then be applied if you choose. Use your creative abilities and scan something new.

The show will be juried by gallery owner Niza Knoll has been making photographs and other art for many years. She has enjoyed using the scanner to experiment with creating images since 2009. She arranges items to create pleasing compositions resulting in crisp, dramatic, undistracted images that depict the simultaneous stillness and energy of an object. She prints the resulting scans on photographic paper and presents them in a large format. She continues to explore new ways to use the flatbed scanner as a creative tool.
