ARTIST STATEMENT / BIO
Corianne Wells (b. 1991) is an American artist, lover of good stories, dorky photos, and dinosaurs. Wells is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA, with an emphasis in animation and illustration, she has exhibited and collaborated in theaters, galleries and businesses throughout the Midwest.
After immersing herself in Chicago’s zine and contemporary art culture; she moved to Colorado in 2015 to continue her career. Working across multiple mediums, Wells explores death, loss, innocence and memory. Through limited palettes, quiet moments, and surreal stills, Wells investigates the interplay between the constructed ‘self’ and one’s soul; and children’s uncanny ability to know both so intimately.
In addition to her studio practice, Wells is Co- Founder and Director of Odessadenver.com; an online creative community resource serving creative professionals in Denver, Co. Odessa aims to build a more creative, connected, and inclusive community by empowering artists of all kinds with resources to inspire success, growth and collaboration.
